Take a peek inside a West Seattle artists’ sketchbook!

Naomi Cox, an illustrator and designer, has gathered up a collection of fresh sketches to share with Dubsea’s guests and the White Center community. Living just blocks from her favorite coffee shop, Naomi found Dubsea to be the perfect spot to pull out her sketchbook and travel watercolors. This sketch from Dubsea, accompanied by more sketches and paintings from everyday life, can be seen displayed at Dubsea August 15 – September 14.

We have partnered with local cafe, Dubsea Cafe and local organizations to bring you your Cultivate Open Mic experience, in the White Center Community. Bring your Shades, lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy an amazing evening of signing, spoken word, and music from local artists and some of White Center’s best talents.

Writing has helped us look at where we came from as a clue to where we’re headed. We’ve been working to record our stories so we can share them with you, so join us in celebrating our young writers!

Come out and get to know your neighbors. Hear the personal narratives told live by some of the students themselves on Saturday, Jan 15th between 6- 9 pm.

One cold winter day, Diane walked in with her sister to get something hot & tasty to drink before heading out to work.  That’s when we heard about her business, Street Treats, a mobile dessert truck selling homemade treats in a different Seattle neighborhood six days a week and weekend evenings, dispensing fresh, homemade, delicious, and fun cookies, brownies, bars, pies, & ice cream.  Needless to say our curiosity was peaked.

A few days later she dropped off some samples and within the first bites of these tasty morsels we were hooked.  We couldn’t resist the flavors of two bar cookies in particular, the decadent carmel & chocolate Carmelita Bar and the buttery rich Apricot Almond Bar.  We know once you try you’ll be hooked too.  Let us know what you think and we hope to bring more goods from the Street Treats menu to you as the year progresses.  Treat yourself and enjoy!

Happy New Year’s!
Ok so we’re a week late, but hey, we just had a baby!  Our little chipmunk love joined us on December 27th weighing in at a whopping 7 lbs 1.4 oz (about the same weight as a bag and a half of our Stumptown beans!).  We haven’t gotten much sleep since and still loving every moment of it.  We are excited to get back to work and seeing all of you again on a regular basis.  Til then, we invite you to join in at any or all of this month’s events.  Read on to find out more about them including a new “Town Hall” which we’re very excited about!  We wish you a wonderful 2011!

We are constantly trying to adjust and fine tune things around here at Dubsea. We sincerely hope these new hours don’t leave out those earlier risers!

Happy Holiday Season Everyone (: !  ‘Tis our last newsletter for 2010 and we hope you’ve enjoyed the content throughout.  We do this each month to share what’s going on with us, with you, and this month we’re thinking there’s a lot to share!  Our mailing list has grown by leaps and bounds and we get new fans on our Dubsea Facebook page by the day, which by the way is a great way to stay on top of the latest Dubsea news:
  • Baby Alert! As many of you know, we are welcoming the newest member of our family any day now and we are excited to meet her!  If she chooses to make her grand debut on a day that Sean & myself are regularly scheduled and none of our other staff are able to make it in right away, you may see a pink sign temporarily posted on the front doors announcing her arrival.  We sincerely apologize in advance for any inconvenience or coffee deprivation this may cause you.  We do promise though to let you know via Facebook & Twitter if this should happen, how we’re all doing, and maybe post a picture of our little chipmunk… (;
  • Holiday Hours:  Winter break is almost upon us!  With some of our staff going home for the holidays and baby time in our new future, we will be taking a little bit of a break ourselves the last several days of the year.
